Recommendation for Nomination form

HELP WANTED: PTA President!

We want YOU to be our next PTA president! Our fearless leader’s term expires at the end of the school year. We’re looking for a creative problem-solver who is comfortable delegating and who can help us focus on the agenda instead of talking about our kids or the latest episode of This Is Us. A sense of humor is a big plus—and if you know how to say “no” without provoking a tantrum, even better. If you’re ready to play a substantial role in supporting our school, we want to hear from you!  You may even nominate a friend!

Please contact Amy Falcone amyef81@yahoo.com or Joelle Brown joeller33@comcast.net for more information or job descriptions.

HELP WANTED: PTA Vice-President!

So you’d like to get more involved in the school PTA, but you’re not sure you’re ready to take the lead role? Our vice president position has your name written all over it! You’ll learn behind-the-scenes intel and be part of decision-making on important issues throughout the year. You’ll help the president get things done—kind of like a superhero’s sidekick, but without the silly costume (unless you’d like to wear a costume!  You do you!).  You may even nominate a friend!

Please contact Amy Falcone amyef81@yahoo.com or Joelle Brown joeller33@comcast.net for more information or job descriptions.

HELP WANTED: Treasurer!

We have big plans to raise money and fund important projects for our school, and we need someone who likes to count every penny to help us do it. If you secretly love to categorize expenses and create color-coded pie charts, you have what it takes to be our PTA treasurer. Bonus points if your spouse teases you about how often you log in to the personal finance app on your smartphone.

Please contact Amy Falcone amyef81@yahoo.com or Joelle Brown joeller33@comcast.net for more information or job descriptions.

Thoreau PTA & Hopelink Pantry Packs Food Drive

Now through April 30th , 2018

When kids don’t get enough to eat, they can’t concentrate and

they can’t learn.

Teachers tell stories of students excited to be at school on
Mondays because they can eat there through federal
programs, but these same children, in the Lake Washington School District (LWSD) often go hungry on weekends, or during school breaks.

Hopelink’s Pantry Packs program provides weekend packs of
food for approximately 850 LWSD students who are identified as being “food insecure.” With community donations of kid-friendly
food and funds, volunteers come together each month to “pack
the packs” at Hopelink’s Kirkland/Northshore warehouse. Volunteer drivers then deliver the packs to schools where the packs are delivered to students each week to take home.

Thoreau PTA will be collecting kid friendly food to supplement
packs for our students at Thoreau. There will be a collection box in the front lobby through the end of April. See the second page of the link below for a list of the "Most Wanted" items!

Protein items are the most needed!
We can accept opened boxes of individually wrapped items as well, as long as the individual food item is sealed.

Please remember to check expiration dates. Thank you for helping our kids!
